Federation Announces Resource Realignment
The Human Resources branch of the United Federation of Planets called a press conference this afternoon to announce the surprise retirement of Lieutentant Commander Montgomery Scott, chief engineer of the USS Enterprise. Captain James T. Kirk made the following remarks at the party, which apparently came as a complete surprise to the guest of honour:
Scotty has been, throughout his career, a great asset, a friend, and the best damn engineer I've ever seen. I can't count the number of times that he's saved us for certain doom: when we needed full power in two minutes, Scotty delivered. When I needed a tachyon flux to detect the invisible aliens, Scotty came through. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the galaxy owes a great debt to Montgomery Scott.
However, times change, and we have realized that, in order boldly go where no man has gone before in the most cost-effective manner, and maximize stakeholder value, we can no longer afford in-house engineering talent. Accordingly, we are realigning our resources in a manner more suitable to today's fiscal environment, which means outsourcing our engineering to the firm Khan Noonien Singh, based in New Delhi, India.
We deeply appreciate Scotty's years of service, and wish him the best of luck as he seeks new opportunities and challenges.
