A New Face on Mars!

One of my favorite sites on the internet is the Astronomy Picture of the Day.

While browsing through the APOD archives for Oct. 24, I came across this picture:

Now, your average scientist might be interested in erosion patterns and other stuff, but my attention was drawn to the amazing structure in the lower right of the picture. Here is a blowup of that section:

If you look carefully, the mystery will unravel before your eyes.

Yes, the king of the ancient martians was none other than:

Deputy Dawg!

We need to get Art Bell on this folks. He retired a week ago, so I'm guessing he's probably back on the air by now, unless the aliens have kidnapped him and forced him to watch old Hanna-Barbara cartoons until his eyes bleed or something.

Man! that's a sharper eye (or better weed) than I have....

Hmnn... It must be some form of interplanetary Rorschach test. It just leapt out at me the first time I saw the image. Actually, it looks more like a cross between Deputy Dawg and Fred Flintstone or something. Or maybe a big martian robotic Deputy Dawg.

There's a touch of Scooby in there as well.

Looks more like Webster Hubbell to me; probably used the Hubbell telescope to capture the image.

Quick! Call Richard C. Hogland(sp?)!

Katie spotted this one didn't she? I know that must be the case, because I also know that neither your eyesight nor your weed is that good! Maybe Katie could do an article on how dogs once ruled Mars, being driven to Earth by a suddenly hostile climate, and are, as we speak, secretly plotting our fate. Perhaps they have a secret build-up of weapons of mass drool-struction?

Actually, I think cats would be more at home on Mars. After all, the entire planet is a giant litterbox.

Is it just me, or are humans the stupidest mammals inhabiting this planet?
